Pakistani Sunni Scholar: Standing with Iran Is Standing with Faith

Mufti Mukarram Qadri stated in his remarks, "Today, when we say we stand with Iran in this war, it does not mean merely supporting a country; rather, we stand with faith and Islam."

AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Mufti Mukarram Qadri, a Pakistani Sunni scholar and mufti, speaking at a ceremony commemorating the martyred leader Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (r.a.) held in the city of Karachi, Pakistan, stated, "Today, when we say we stand with Iran in this war, it does not mean merely supporting a country; rather, we stand with faith and Islam."

In his remarks, he emphasized that there is no fundamental difference between Shia and Sunni, and that those who sow discord are in fact reinforcing the enemies' plots. Therefore, the Islamic Ummah must unite on the basis of commonalities.

Mufti Mukarram Qadri further stated, "The martyred Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, nurtured a nation that had been preparing itself to confront America for a long time. The existence of underground missile cities in Iran shows that this readiness has been underway for years. Today, although the Leader has been martyred, his son, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, has taken up this banner, and he is the leader of the entire Islamic Ummah."

He added, "Today, when we say we stand with Iran in this war, it does not mean merely supporting a country; rather, we stand with faith and Islam."

Mufti Mukarram Qadri, referring to divisive activities on social media, said, "Today, some sectarian elements are active in cyberspace, conducting negative religious propaganda against Iran and trying to stoke divisions, while these actions in effect benefit the United States and Israel. In truth, if we look carefully, there is no difference between Shia and Sunni, and they stand together."

He continued, "Imam Bukhari also narrated from Shia narrators, which shows that from his perspective, Shia are also people of faith. Therefore, when Imam Bukhari holds such a view, there is no room left for the words of divisive individuals."

This religious scholar, also referring to Sunni theology, said, "Among Sunnis, there are two great imams in theology: Abu Mansur al-Maturidi and Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari. Doctrinally, Sunnis are either Maturidi or Ash'ari. These two imams considered principles such as belief in God, the Prophet, the Hereafter, the angels, and good and evil as coming from God to be among the pillars of faith, and Shia also fully believe in all these principles."

Mufti Mukarram Qadri concluded by emphasizing the importance of unity, saying, "When God commands the Prophet in the Qur'an to invite the People of the Book to the common word—monotheism and avoidance of polytheism—then why should we not come together on commonalities despite our religious differences? This fire of discord has in fact been ignited by sectarian individuals for their own personal interests. Today, it is necessary to stand with Iran, which in truth is standing with faith."
